Phishing is a fraud in which you are lured to a fake website, messenger chat or “bank” email so that your card details, passwords or confirmation codes can be stolen.

In plain words

Fraudsters copy the pages of banks, shops and delivery services and create urgency: “your card is blocked”, “pay a delivery surcharge”. The main rule: never tell anyone an SMS code, your CVV or your app password, because bank staff do not ask for them. Open websites from bookmarks or the official app rather than from links in emails and messages, and check the site address.

Example. A message arrives: “Your parcel is delayed, pay UAH 30” with a link to a site that looks like the post office. The page asks for your card details and an SMS code. This is phishing: close the page and, if you have already entered the data, block the card in your app at once.

Word of the dayInterchange feeAdvanced

Interchange is a fee paid for each card payment between the acquirer and the bank that issued the card. The Ukrainian law on payment services expressly allows the acquirer and/or the issuer to pay it to each other.

Example. A purchase of UAH 1,000: the merchant receives the amount minus the acquiring fee. The acquirer passes part of that fee to the bank that issued the buyer’s card, and this part is the interchange (the numbers are illustrative; rates depend on the terms).
