If you are looking for how to buy TON, you should know about two renamings today. On 15 June 2026, the TON network’s coin, Toncoin (TON), was renamed Gram (GRAM), while the blockchain is still called TON. On 28 September 2026, the Wallet app in Telegram became Walt. Walt writes that Walt and Telegram are separate, independent services: Walt only uses your Telegram account for login, and Telegram is not responsible for assets in Walt (Walt help center). You can open Walt via @walt, and the old @wallet handle also works; official support is @walt_support (about the renaming). Your account, verification, addresses and balance did not change after the renaming.
What You Will Need
- The official Telegram app. Walt does not work in unofficial clients or in Telegram for Linux.
- Age 18 or older and verification. An account requires a basic check: name, date of birth, phone number. P2P Market requires identity verification (KYC).
- A card or account in your name. On P2P Market you can pay only with methods registered in the name you provided during verification.
- Being in a country where the service is available. Ukraine is not on the list of restricted countries, but the list includes Crimea and the occupied parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Walt’s rules prohibit using a VPN to bypass restrictions.

Step by Step: GRAM on P2P Market in Walt
- Open @walt in Telegram. There should be a Telegram verification badge next to the name. Do not go to accounts with similar names.
- Create an account and pass verification: first the basic one, and for P2P, identity verification.
- Tap “Deposit” → “P2P Market” → “Buy.” Filter the ads: GRAM, hryvnia, your payment method.
- Check the seller: rating, ad terms and comments.
- Enter the amount, then tap “Check order” and “Confirm.”
- Wait for the seller to accept the order. The payment details and the seller’s name (first name and the first letter of the last name) will appear. Compare it with the recipient in your bank: if the names do not match, do not pay and cancel the order with the “I have a problem” → “Names Don’t Match, I Haven’t Paid” button.
- Pay in a single transfer using only the details from the order. Do not use payment details sent in the chat.
- Tap “Confirm Payment” and upload the receipt. When the seller confirms receipt, GRAM will appear on your Walt balance.

How to Withdraw GRAM to an Exchange: Memo and Fees
Exchanges often identify a deposit on the TON network not only by the address but also by a comment (memo). On WhiteBIT, a memo is mandatory for TON deposits and withdrawals: if you forget it, the funds will arrive at the exchange’s address but not on your balance, and you will have to contact support with the transaction hash (WhiteBIT help center). On Binance, the “TON memo” network requires both a memo and an address. Walt reminds you: when sending TON network tokens to an exchange, enter the memo from your exchange profile, otherwise the funds will be lost. No memo is needed to top up Walt itself.

For scale: at the GRAM/USDT and USDT/UAH rates on WhiteBIT on 21 October 2026, one GRAM cost about UAH 58, so a fee of 0.05 GRAM is roughly UAH 3 (own calculation). The network itself, according to ton.org, charges about 0.00039 GRAM for a GRAM transfer, and this fee does not depend on network load.

Where to Keep GRAM After Buying
In Walt’s custodial wallet, the service holds the keys. That is why Walt checks transactions and may ask for additional documents, for example on the source of funds, and the “Account under review” screen means a check that usually takes up to 12 hours. If Something Goes Wrong
- Walt does not open. Update Telegram and your system, reload the page via the three-dot menu, and switch your internet connection.
- A deposit has not arrived. Check the address, token, network and minimum amount. If the transaction has the “Pending” status, it may be under review for up to 12 hours (Walt help center).
- You forgot the memo when withdrawing to an exchange. Contact the receiving exchange’s support with the transaction hash, the amount and a link to the transaction in a blockchain explorer.
- The seller asks for different details or an extra payment. Stop the payment and write to @walt_support. P2P Market rules prohibit extra fees and “tips.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Are TON and Gram the same thing?
Yes. Since 15 June 2026, the native coin of the TON network has been called Gram (GRAM); it was formerly Toncoin (TON). Only the name, ticker and logo changed, and the network is still TON. You do not need to exchange anything.
Are Wallet in Telegram and Walt the same thing?
Yes. On 28 September 2026, the Wallet app was renamed Walt. It opens via @walt, and @wallet also works. Your account, addresses and balance were preserved.
How is Walt different from Money?
Walt is a separate service with a custodial wallet, P2P Market, exchange and other products, and Walt holds the keys there. Money is the Telegram team’s non-custodial wallet in the messenger’s settings. If you have funds in Walt, Money shows a notification with a link to Walt.
Can I buy GRAM without verification?
A Walt account requires a basic check, and P2P Market requires identity verification. Buying by card through a provider also requires verification with the provider. On WhiteBIT, only demo tokens are available without KYC.
Why did the exchange not credit GRAM from Walt?
Most often because of the memo: WhiteBIT, for example, credits a GRAM deposit only with the comment shown on the deposit page. Also check the network and the minimum amount: on WhiteBIT the minimum deposit is 0.75 GRAM.
