Key points

  • You can buy ETH with hryvnia on an exchange in the ETH/UAH pair, through a quick purchase paid in hryvnia or on a P2P platform; on WhiteBIT the ETH/UAH fee is 0.1% and the minimum order is UAH 45.
  • Exchanges offer several networks for ETH withdrawals: the fee is higher on the main Ethereum network and lower on second-layer networks (Arbitrum, Optimism, Base).

Ether (ETH) is the native coin of the Ethereum network. You can buy it with hryvnia on an exchange in the ETH/UAH pair, through a quick purchase paid in hryvnia, or on a P2P platform. Below: how each method works, what it costs and which network to choose for withdrawal. Data checked on 21 October 2026.

Important. This material is for information only and is not investment advice. As of 21 October 2026, the Law of Ukraine on Virtual Assets No. 2074-IX has the status “Not yet in force” (law card), and bill No. 10225-d is “Being prepared for second reading” (bill card). We covered the general rules for a first crypto purchase in How to Buy Bitcoin with Hryvnia; here we cover what applies specifically to ETH.

What to Know About ETH Before Buying

According to ethereum.org (page updated 5 October 2026), ETH is needed to pay network fees (gas) and to secure the network through staking. Blocks on Ethereum are created every 12 seconds, and a transfer becomes final (finality) in about 15 minutes. A confirmed transaction cannot be reversed. Unlike bitcoin, the amount of ETH is not limited by a fixed cap: new coins are issued as rewards to validators, and part of every fee is burned.

The second feature is networks. Besides the main Ethereum network, there are second-layer networks (layer 2), such as Arbitrum One or Optimism: according to ethereum.org, they are built on top of Ethereum and are cheaper to use. The network you choose for withdrawal determines the fee and whether the funds arrive.

What You Will Need

  • Verification on the exchange. On WhiteBIT, without it only demo tokens are available, while deposits, withdrawals and Buy Crypto require KYC; the service is available from age 18 (WhiteBIT help center).
  • A card or account in your name. You cannot pay from someone else’s card: such a payment will be canceled.
  • Two-factor authentication, set up before the first deposit.
  • Your own wallet address, if you plan to withdraw ETH from the exchange. An Ethereum address starts with 0x; ethereum.org advises checking it before every transfer. For how to store your keys, see How to Store Crypto.

Three Ways to Buy ETH with Hryvnia

MethodHow it worksWhat to watch for
ETH/UAH order (WhiteBIT)You top up your balance with hryvnia and buy ETH on the ETH/UAH spot marketA fee of 0.1% for makers and takers; the minimum order is UAH 45 and 0.0001 ETH
Quick purchase paid in hryvnia (Buy Crypto on WhiteBIT)You choose hryvnia in the “I give” field and ETH as the asset; you pay by card via Quick Top Up or P2P ExpressThe rate already includes the conversion fee; you have 30 minutes to make the transfer; you receive USDT, which is automatically converted into ETH
P2P Market in Walt (Telegram)You buy ETH from another user, pay them by transfer, and the platform holds the crypto in escrowETH is one of five tokens available on P2P Market; you can pay only from an account in your name

On Binance, hryvnia is handled through P2P: we described how to use it in Binance P2P: How to Buy and Sell Crypto. Another route is to buy USDT first (how to buy USDT with hryvnia) and then exchange it for ETH in the ETH/USDT pair: on WhiteBIT the fee there is the same 0.1%. We do not cover exchangers or hand-to-hand deals: their terms cannot be verified against official sources.

Step by Step: ETH via an ETH/UAH Order

  1. Pass verification and enable account protection. For details on the exchange, see the review WhiteBIT for Ukrainians.
  2. Top up your balance with hryvnia. With the Card Transfer method, the exchange generates an invoice and you transfer money to a P2P partner’s card: you have 10 minutes to pay, you must pay from the card you specified, and after the transfer you click “I paid” and upload the receipt (WhiteBIT help center). The fees and limits of each method are in the Fiat section of the fees page.
  3. Open the ETH/UAH pair and enter the amount. A market order is executed immediately, a limit order when the price reaches the one you set. The minimum is UAH 45, and the quantity is rounded to 0.0001 ETH.
  4. Check your balance and trade history. Keep the receipts: your bank or the tax service may need them.
  5. If you wish, withdraw ETH to your own wallet, choosing the network carefully.

Which Network to Choose for Withdrawing ETH

Both exchanges charge a fixed amount for ETH withdrawals, and it depends on the network. Here is the public data as of 21 October 2026:

NetworkWhiteBIT: fee / minimum, ETHBinance: fee / minimum, ETH
Ethereum (ERC20)0.0003 / 0.00380.00015 / 0.002
Arbitrum One0.0000501 / 0.00380.00005 / 0.0003
Optimism0.0000518 / 0.00380.000015 / 0.00003
Base0.0000486 / 0.00380.00005 / 0.002
BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)0.000099 / 0.00380.0000091 / 0.000018
zkSync Era0.000169 / 0.00150.00003 / 0.01

To get a sense of scale: at the ETH/UAH price on WhiteBIT on 21 October 2026 (about UAH 107,419 per 1 ETH), a fee of 0.0003 ETH on the main network is roughly UAH 32, and 0.00005 ETH on Arbitrum is about UAH 5 (own calculation). The minimum withdrawal on WhiteBIT on the main networks is 0.0038 ETH, or roughly UAH 408. If you buy less, you will not be able to withdraw ETH from this exchange until your balance reaches the minimum.

A cheaper network works only if the recipient supports it. The coin name is the same, but ETH on Arbitrum, Base or BEP20 is a balance on that network, not on the main Ethereum network. According to the MetaMask help center, the wallet address is the same on Ethereum-compatible (EVM) networks, so funds mistakenly sent to your own address on another EVM network do not disappear: you just need to switch the network in your wallet. But an exchange credits a deposit only on the networks it accepts: on WhiteBIT, for ETH these are ERC20, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, BEP20, zkSync and Scroll. The number of confirmations also differs: 64 on ERC20, 20 on BEP20, 300 on Base.

Risk. A transfer to a network the recipient does not support, or to the wrong address, can cost you the entire amount, and a confirmed transaction cannot be reversed. Send a small amount the first time. For more on choosing a network, see USDT Networks: TRC20, ERC20 or BEP20: the principle for ETH is the same.

How Much Buying ETH Costs

ComponentWhat the official pages say
ETH/UAH trading fee (WhiteBIT)0.1% for makers and 0.1% for takers
Buy Crypto with hryvnia (Quick Top Up, P2P Express)No separate fee is shown: the rate already includes the method’s rate and the conversion fee
Buy Crypto with a Visa/Mastercard card, Apple Pay, Google Pay1.5% for banks in EU countries, 3.5% for banks outside the EU and for commercial cards
P2P Market in Walt, hryvniaWalt charges a fee only to the maker (the ad’s author): 0.9% for Trusted Merchants, 1.2% for others. A buyer responding to someone else’s ad pays no Walt fee but covers their own bank’s fee
Gas on the Ethereum networkUnits of gas × (base fee + tip to the validator). A simple ETH transfer is 21,000 units; ethereum.org shows its current cost at about $0.016
Withdrawal from the exchangeA fixed amount depending on the network, see the table above

Illustrative example (own calculation at the WhiteBIT rate): with UAH 10,000 in the ETH/UAH pair you can buy about 0.0931 ETH, and the 0.1% fee will be about UAH 10. Withdrawal on the main network will take another 0.0003 ETH (about UAH 32), on Arbitrum 0.0000501 ETH (about UAH 5), plus a possible bank fee. Compare the full amount, not just the exchange’s percentage.

Main Risks

If Something Goes Wrong

  • The payment is declined or the method is unavailable. WhiteBIT writes that the system will mark a method restricted in your country as unavailable and offer others (Buy Crypto help page). Try another deposit method or P2P Express.
  • No hryvnia in P2P Express. The list of currencies is determined by the country of your verification; for Ukraine it is hryvnia (WhiteBIT help center).
  • An ETH deposit has not been credited. Check the network, the address and the number of confirmations. If the exchange does not support the network, contact its support only through official channels and do not pay anyone “for recovery.”
  • A P2P seller asks for different payment details. Do not pay: Walt advises stopping the payment in that case and contacting support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum I can spend on ETH?

On WhiteBIT, the minimum order in the ETH/UAH pair is UAH 45 and the minimum volume is 0.0001 ETH (public market data, 21 October 2026). But you can withdraw from the exchange only from 0.0038 ETH on the main networks. Other services have different limits.

Can I buy ETH with hryvnia without USDT?

Yes. WhiteBIT has a direct ETH/UAH pair. In Buy Crypto paid in hryvnia, the exchange also buys USDT first, but automatically converts it into ETH, so you do not need to exchange anything separately.

Which network should I choose to withdraw ETH to my wallet?

The one your wallet supports and on which you plan to use ETH. The main Ethereum network is more expensive for withdrawals, second-layer networks are cheaper. Check the network in the withdrawal form and make a test transfer.

Is it legal to buy ETH in Ukraine?

The special law on virtual assets is not yet in force, and bill No. 10225-d has not been adopted as a whole. Regulators stress that such operations are at your own risk. For your specific case, consult a lawyer or a tax advisor.
