What This Exchange Is and Who Stands Behind It
According to its help center, WhiteBIT is a centralized exchange and custodial platform: it holds users’ assets and is responsible for their security. According to the same help center, the company was founded on 16 November 2018.
The user agreement shows that WhiteBIT is a group of companies in different countries. It includes, among others, UAB Clear White Technologies (Lithuania), Dervaliose Technologies sp. z o.o. Other companies provide non-banking services: development, marketing and support. The group’s composition may change, so read the current agreement before you register.

Verification and Restrictions
Without verification, a user can only try trading tools with demo tokens. Verification is mandatory for deposits, withdrawals, creating and activating WhiteBIT codes, and for the “Buy Crypto” section. The service can be used from age 18. Verification levels (basic, pro, advanced) determine which services are available: the “Buy Crypto” section is open at all three levels.
The exchange does not accept documents of citizens and residents of a number of countries and territories, including the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and “temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine”. Depending on the country of citizenship or residence, some functions and assets may be unavailable.
Additional rules apply to residents of the EEA. According to WhiteBIT’s documentation, since 30 December 2024 accounts from the EEA cannot deposit or withdraw USDT, and since 19 May 2025, withdrawing cryptocurrency from accounts in the EEA (and Turkey) requires data under the Travel Rule.
Security: What the Exchange Claims
The WhiteBIT help center lists the account protection features: two-factor authentication (TOTP), passkeys, an anti-phishing code in emails, a whitelist of withdrawal addresses, device and session management, and automatic logout.
The exchange states the following about keeping funds: 96% of assets are kept in multi-signature cold wallets, and there is an insurance fund covering cold-storage assets, with a planned size of USD 30 million. These are the exchange’s own statements. The documentation for partners lists ISO 27001, PCI DSS Level 1 and CCSS Level 3 certifications (audit by Hacken), but the exchange provides certificate numbers, issuing bodies and validity periods only on request. At the same time, the security help article says that the PCI DSS audit is ongoing, so the discrepancies between the pages should be taken into account.
Risk. The exchange’s statements about cold storage, the insurance fund and certificates are not independent confirmation. Keep on the exchange only the amount needed for trades.
Licenses and Registrations
The partner documentation states that WhiteBIT has VASP registrations in several jurisdictions, but the full list (jurisdictions, supervisory bodies, numbers) is provided on request at compliance@whitebit.com. On the pages we reviewed, we did not find a public list of registration numbers.
One entry can be checked in a regulatory register. In the temporary MiCA register of ESMA (updated 7 October 2026), among the crypto-asset service providers there is WhiteBIT EU: the company WB-Shields Innovations GmbH, supervised by the Austrian FMA, with an authorization notification date of 18 June 2026. The listed services include custody and administration of crypto-assets, exchange for funds and for other crypto-assets, placement and transfer. This concerns the European service whitebit.eu, not automatically every user in the world.
In Ukraine, there is no state licensing of exchanges under a special law yet: the Law “On Virtual Assets” (No. 2074-IX) has the status “Not yet in force” on the Verkhovna Rada website.
The WhiteBIT Nova Card
The card page describes WhiteBIT Nova as a Visa debit card issued and serviced by Wallester AS. This is a payment institution authorized by the Estonian Finantsinspektsioon. Ukraine is listed among the regions where the card is available. The conditions (fees, limits, cashback) are on the card page: they change, so we do not reproduce them here.
What to Pay Attention To
- Third-party provider. In Card Transfer and P2P Express, the deal is carried out by a partner outside the exchange. You accept its terms yourself.
- Card in your name. The payment must be made from the card you specified. The account and the card must both be yours.
- Rates and fees change. WhiteBIT writes that the fees on its page may change without notice. Check them before a deal.
- Bank. Transfers related to crypto may attract a bank’s attention. More details are in the article How to Withdraw Crypto to a Ukrainian Bank Card.
- Futures and margin. According to the help center, the exchange offers margin trading with leverage of up to 10x and futures with leverage of up to 100x. These are instruments with an increased risk of losing funds, and we do not consider them.
- Group structure. When the service is provided not by one company but by several, responsibility for a specific operation depends on the agreement. Read it before your first deposit.
